UWATC Pennant Policy
Selection of Teams
- All members to be considered for pennants must be financial.
- In determining teams, nominated players will be listed in ITN & points order.
- Teams will have nominated 5-6 full-time players.
- Reserves players can be placed with a team, but will only be given matches when regular players are unavailable.
- If a player is willing to play ‘down’ in order to be with a friend, this can be accommodated, provided it has no serious bearing on the club, however players will not be able to play up ahead of higher ranked players.
- Players will be required to pay ball fees upfront. Any players who haven’t paid by the commencement date of pennants will be ineligible for team selection until rectified.
State League
- Players who commit to the team, will sign a contract & abide by the conditions, otherwise contract will be void.
- The highest ranking available players will play each week.
- Those that are not selected will drop down to division 1.
Playing of Reserves
- Players will be given the opportunity to play up if members of the above team are unavailable.
- Players will be promoted on the highest ITN, the number one will be given first preference.
- If they do so decline, then the next highest ranked player will be given the opportunity & so on.
- Should a reserve not be found from teams below and/or from the “Reserves List” provided at the beginning of the season, captain’s are to contact the Club Captain to make alternative arrangements.
- Players not mentioned on team lists and/or on the “Reserves List” will require approval to play from the Club Captain prior to competing in any matches.
- Team captains will do their best to ensure that all teams in the pennant competition will be given the greatest chance of success.
ITN Regrading
- Players should be encouraged to play pennants regularly & win their matches, thus improving their ITN.
- Players who wish their ITNs to be reviewed must approach the Club Captain in writing. They will be changed only under exceptional circumstances.
- Players need to provide proof as to why they should be changed. This can be tournament, pennants results or through challenge matches.
- The club captain will then decide if it’s a valid argument & will then approach Tennis West.
